Background:
Situated in village of Alsager, on borders of Staffordshire and Cheshire; opened in 1975, with extensions added in 1980, 1987, 1997 and 2004; new kitchen and dining room; two playgrounds, a large playing field, and wildlife and pond area. Apart from its academic achievements, the school promotes music, dance, drama and visual arts as well as sport; cross-country champions for six successive years. Wide range of extra-curricular clubs: art, pottery, dance, drama, choir, cross-country, football, and netball. After-school lessons in French and variety of musical instruments. All pupils have chance of residential trips in Year 4, 5 and 6. Strong links with church and local community; termly charity fundraising. Schools Curriculum Award (2003); Artsmark Silver (2004). Ethos: 'The school aims to create an atmosphere that is happy and caring, and where the pupils have the desire to strive for excellence in all that they do'.
