Background:
St James Church of England is a voluntary controlled primary school caters for pupils between four to 11 years. It moved to its new building in the late 1960s, allowing the old building to become the village hall. The new building has five teaching bases, a library, arts and crafts area, well-equipped hall, medical and staffrooms as well as its own kitchen and usual offices. Outside there are two playground areas, a playing field and environmental area. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include netball, football, rounders and tag-rugby. Occasional sporting fixtures against neighbouring schools are arranged and it also participates in local tournaments and galas. The school aims to provide an attractive and learning environment to all children.
