Nether Stowe High occupies a 'pleasant' site next to Stowe Pool in Lichfield within sight of the cathedral. A garden was recently added to the 'well maintained and attractive' grounds. Learning resources include a network of computers, the internet, satellite tracking, video filming and editing equipment and an 'ambitious' refurbishment programme has improved the science and physical education facilties. Reflecting Nether Stowe's commitment to 'continuous improvement with a strong, successful emphasis on academic standards', the national curriculum is enhanced with lessons in personal, social and health education, drama and a range of extra-curricular activities such as sport and music. The school's 'well-known' big band plays jazz around the local area and musical groups tour in Europe every year. Nether Stowe fosters links with the local community through its work with parents, agencies and local businesses and has earned Investor in People status. The school is oversubscribed by five per cent.
