The college is maintained by Staffordshire county council and is a large split site co-educational comprehensive college catering for the full range of students 11-18. They are currently 1888 students on roll including sixth form of 209, and each entry since 1985 has been over-subscribed. The college is divided into following curriculum areas: English, mathematics, science, modern foreign languages, humanities (geography, history, religious studies, sociology and psychology), creative arts (art, music and drama), design and technology (information and communication technology, business studies and economics), physical education, citizenship, personal, social and health education. The college has additional clubs and societies including chess club, radio controlled car club, dance club, languages club, drama club, photography club and various sports clubs. The college has close links with local businesses. The college aims to work in partnership to promote an environment in which all pupils learn and are valued.
