Background:
The school was founded in 1935 as separate girls and boys schools and became a mixed comprehensive in the 1970s. It is housed in extensive buildings situated in a pleasant open campus on the edge of the Channock Chase forest. In addition to a broad range of subjects offered at GCSE and post-16, the school enjoys a 'strong reputation' for sport and music. Several students are internationals in a range of sports and the school has had success at county and regional events in athletics, football and rugby. The school bands and choirs have made CDs and performed at several prestigious concerts and festivals. Chase Terrace High also offers an extensive programme of adult education. 'A school at the heart of its community, serving the community with quality education for life-long learning.' It is over-subscribed, receiving more than 260 applications for 230 places.
