Background:
St Austin's Roman Catholic Aided Primary School is a co-educational day school, catering for pupils between the ages of four to 11 years. The school dates back to 1818 when a small building was erected on a site near the original Church of St Austin on the Wolverhampton Road. Since then this building has been replaced, extended and resited many times, and it is now accommodated in the school buildings and spacious picturesque grounds of St Joseph's Convent. The school provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: Library Club, Book Club, Choir, Recorder Groups, Football (girls and boys), Gymnastics, Netball, Rounders, Cricket and Chess. It also provides specialized coaching in Cricket, Football and Rounders by qualified coaches.
