Background:
St Filumena's serves the Catholic communities Caverswall, Blythe Bridge, Forsbrook, Dilhorne, Weston Coyney and parts of Meir and Meir Park. The school has very close links with the parish church and the teachings of the Catholic faith form a key part of the curriculum. All pupils are taught swimming as part of the physical education programme and the school makes use of facilities at the Cheadle leisure centre. Football, cricket, athletics, netball, swimming, rounders and cross country fixtures are arranged against local schools. A number of extra-curricular clubs operate at lunchtime and pupils are also offered the opportunity to take part in a Saturday morning sports club. Musical groups stage performances throughout the school year and instrumental tuition in a variety of instruments is also available.
