Background:

Bursley C.P. School is a happy, successful and popular school, situated in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire. There are 317 children on roll, organised into eight mixed aged classes and two Reception classes. The teaching staff currently comprises of eleven full time staff including the headteacher. We have three HLTAs. There are also several full and part-time teaching assistants on the staff. The building was completed in 1959, but has been extensively modified and modernised over the past ten years. New extensions include administrative offices, medical, and resource rooms as well as a purpose built ICT/Library suite. The school grounds consist of two playgrounds, extensive grass areas, a wildlife area, greenhouse and gardens and two large adventure playgrounds, and numerous trees. Extra Curricular activities are encouraged and various clubs help to enrich the learning opportunities for the children. They currently include football, cricket, cross-country, netball, computers, craft, choir, French, guitars, and gardening.
